  right now, i'm watching a movie on saint peter's biblical account in the bible on tbn.

  you notice many differences.

  one difference is that the acting is much superior.

  They came out with a video about (5?) years back that was focusing on Moses and the sins of the sons of Korah. I was quite sickened by the comparison (again) of Moses to the local watchtower representatives, elders.

  One elder not long after said that I might be 'running in the rebellious talk of Korah'. I replied that Moses pictured Christ, not local elders. And that even the comparison with the GB was greatly presumptuous. I also told him I was offended that he would account my criticism of the local elders, and their failure to show love like that of Christ, as somehow even remotely like the sin of Korah in wishing to procure equality with Moses and Aaron. That was the last I heard of that. Of course they still think it - but I have not heard such nonsense from them lately.

  deals with the medical use of blood fractions.

  I do not agree with your end-case here. I think the WTS is going the opposite way with this. They have with that same 6-15 magazine now allowed another fraction that was not allowed before - fractions from Red Bllod Cells - there is only one - hemoglobin which makes up 97% of that 'component' -. This has gotten perilously close to whole blood - the closest they have ever been.

  the entire trend over the past 20 years has been a more liberal view of blood. The entire issue with them revolves around the idea of protecting the organization from lawsuits. The move towards allowing more conscience and less law is where I think they are going with this - and then the eventual lawsuit issue will be mute since all witnesses are making their own choices here - without really giving up control

  You are certainly right that they are trying to lean witness consciences a certain way - they always have done that. They would prob like all witnesses to follow the leanings - and reject blood in all forms - but mostly only care if the you do not sue them!

  My projection is that they will eventually still keep use of blood transfusions wrong - a sin - but will remove the punishment for this action - somehow. How is the only question to me.

  what does the elder manual say the procedure is when someone reports child abuse?

  my father in law is telling my wife that is says to go straight to the proper authorities... i have a hard time buying that since thats not what the watchtowers i've seen have said!

  any one have the low down on this?

  studies,vol 7,p 68>>>scriptures prove that the lord's second advent was in 1874....oops!!!.

  what happened in 1925?well studies,vol 7,p 128 says there is evidence that the establishment in palestine will be in 1925,ten years later than we once calculated -oops!.

  We're going to listen to their agonizing entreaty "Brothers get in" because they know what's coming! And it's coming fast. And don't wait 'till 1975. The door is going to be shut before then.

  Avishai - does that mean that all the millions that came into that 'ark of salvation' after '75 have just wasted their time? Looks like the door was already shut - so maybe they are just outside looking in - and are dreaming that they are inside?

  Good point, Heathen.

  Also I remember the articles that explained Jesus' parable of the 'dragnet' - how Christendom was responsible for aiding in bringing the message of the kingdom to millions thru their efforts in evangelizing and missionary work - but that the 'accurate' knowledge and life hope would come thru JW's only - and all the good works of Christendom would just end in death for all who did not take the next step and join the Jw's - quite a leap indeed

  Also the millions of Bible's translated and distributed by 'apostate Christendom' is of course no value to God - but if it is a watchtower - like the one Blondie reports on here - now that is a blessing from JAH............................................

  How many were religious????????

  i know you cant know whats in someones head or mind, but in a average congregation of about a 80 to 100 people how many would you say were religious!.

  i can say in mine there was about 6 that i would say were genuine people.

  the rest i felt believed in the "truth" i did, but they were either scared of armageddon or peer pressureot to save face .

  They were 'ritual' - they did all the touchtone rituals - that defined religiosity I think - meetings, service, conventions, and an eagerness to learn 'new ight' - always waiting for new light or a some news event that signalled the 'start of tthe end' - In service many were materialist - thinking and dreaming of 'that house will be mine after Armeggedon -

  religious - very few I suppose - most never read the Bible or studied - they just underlined

  did you ever notice the repeated emphasis on the 'proof' that jw's were god's chosen people, due to the depth of persecution by the 'devil's hoards'?.

  i never did see it - in 30 years i never saw it - i always wondered how the organization could, with any journalistic dignity - print articles that used the persecution of jw's in nazi germany as such proof, while ignoring the death of 6,000,000 jews!

  some historians believe that perhaps 1500 or 2000 of jehovah's witnesses died in the concentration camps.

While not mimimizing those deaths - did it ever occur to the witness organization that perhaps the most persecuted group in the 20th century was the Jews? Even the homosexual community probably had more persons killed than Jw's did in Hitlers' camps! Or perhaps other minority religions, or blacks!

  What epitome of arrogance does it take to ignore the suffering of millions, while exalting the suffering of a few in comparison. How would that prove that Jw's were Jesus followers?

  I still read it daily -although I have the NWT on my shelf, I rarely read it. With the WTS emphasis on use o a single scripture here and there to prove doctrine - I have found their scripture index easy to use. Also since the phraseology is familiar it helps me to find particular verses - but I do my reading mostly in the NKJV or the NIV.

  I do view it as the word of God - please do not deluge this thread with attacks on that issue.
